One day sensitization workshop on controlling illegal wildlife trade for bus/trucks drivers and helpers
Greenhood Nepal organized one day workshop program on One day sensitization workshop on controlling illegal wildlife trade for bus/trucks drivers and helpers in Araniko Highway at 18 February, 2016 in Rural Development Society Hall, Barhabise Sindhupalchok facilitated by entire team of Greenhood Nepal. The opening program was conducted by Hemant Shrestha (Programme Officer, Greenhood Nepal), in the opening ceremony Mr. Kumar Paudel, President and Illegal Wildlife trade specialist of Greenhood Nepal, highlighted on the workshop importance and the objective of Greenhood Nepal for organizing this workshop. Mr. Paudel further stress that, Greenhood Nepal wish to have active participation of the participants and grab knowledge and skills from facilitators.
Mr. Hemant Shrestha highlighted on objective of workshop, duration, workshop type and methodologies that will be used during the day. Mr. Shrestha further stressed that, the training will specially focus on illegal wildlife trade and difference between legal and illegal wildlife trade.
The session two started with the lecture by APF Senior Superintend of Police Abhi Kumar Khatri and Nepal Police Inspector Raju Paney. On this time they talked on the following topic:
• Reported record of participation of truck/bus driver in illegal wildlife trade
• Things that should be aware during the taking the goods sent by strangers
• Law, policy and action plan about illegal wildlife trade
• Seduced the participants to be a messenger of illegal wildlife trade activities
Here the participants learned about the Law, policy and action plan about illegal wildlife trade
And know the example of reported crime about the illegal wildlife trade while involving in their profession.
The third session started with presentation from the representative of District Forest Office, Sindhupalchok reviewing the participants about the recorded crime and seized wildlife parts. There the participants raised their questions and got information about the wildlife crime and punishment provided by them. On the same time, Mr. Bishnu from Gaurishankar Conservation Area talked about the wildlife and its status in conservation area. By the end of this session he concluded by the importance of wild animals in the earth for the balanced ecology.
After the regular previous session review, the participants discussed with the Pushpa Pandey (Officer) from World Wildlife Fund (WWF) on illegal wildlife trade, wildlife and its importance and control measures.
By the end of the session, Diwakar Shrestha (Illegal Wildlife Specialist-WWF Nepal) concluded the workshop by advising the participants to be aware about illegal wildlife trade and help other to control the illegal wildlife trade.
